How time detection works
Timely uses a two-tier system to determine which timezone a time is in.
Explicit timezone
highest priorityIf the message includes a timezone abbreviation like “3pm PT” or “10am EST”, Timely uses that timezone regardless of who sent it.
Sender's Slack profile
fallbackIf no timezone is mentioned, Timely reads the sender's timezone from their Slack profile. This is automatic and handles DST.

Ephemeral messages only
Converted times are sent as ephemeral messages — only visible to the recipient. They disappear when you reload Slack. No one else in the channel can see them.
No message storage
Timely never stores the content of your messages. It processes the detected time in real-time and discards everything immediately after.
Timezone data from Slack
Timely reads timezone information directly from Slack's API — it doesn't collect or store any additional personal data.
